CONCEPTUAL KEY
Cube
If the square expresses the relationship of a flat surface, the cube expresses the volume;
Represents the materials and the 4 elements of the universe;
Symbol of stability and perfection;
When grouped with the sphere, which symbolizes Earth, the finite and the created, the cube represents Heaven, the infinite and the uncreated;
“One day it will have to be officially admitted that what we have christened reality is an even greater illusion than the world of dreams.” – Salvador Dalí
“The Shape of the World” represents the concept of knowledge, which is established as a set of experiences, which are based on basic beliefs and ideas.
Through contradictions between the symbologies of geometric shapes, the concept of rupture of something that integrates human knowledge is emphasized, something based on a fundamental and structural belief of its ideology.
The Cube, symbol of stability and perfection, appears as an object with its stability compromised and with its perfect sides decomposed and altered. The Cube’s symbolic relationship with the sphere is compared to that which the sky establishes with the Earth. Therefore, the cube is presented as an infinite and unfinished object, like a puzzle, with multiple possibilities, where the acquired data is constantly changing.
