The image is a testament to the relationship between healthcare professionals and their patients. “Saviour” translates as a tribute to professionals who provide more than one service, dedicating their lives to fulfilling a vocation and acting with the purpose of caring.
Aesculapius (the Greco-Roman god of medicine), son of Apollo and Coronis, who was educated by the centaur Chiron in the healing arts, was referred to as a person whose medical skills even allowed him to resurrect his fellow men. This has frightened the gods themselves, leading to his execution by Zeus for the crime of interfering in divine matters.
Guardians of health, not only physical but also psychological, they are bastions and confidants in which hopes and dreams for a future improvement in a person's condition are placed.
Dedication, humanity, empathy, and solidarity are some of the characteristics of these figures, who possess the knowledge and skills necessary to help in times when health fails.
