In François Rabelais' work “Pantagruel”, the trees grown on the “Island of Tools” are described as producing all kinds of tools and weapons;
The image alludes to a normal and characteristic process of evolution for all living beings, which adapts and adjusts its characteristics, in order to better survive in a given space, or to achieve a certain harmony with the environment in which they live.
In opposition to Fixism, “Persephone’s Allegory” presents itself as a hypothesis derived from later theories of evolutionism, about the evolutionary mechanisms adopted by certain species, in order to survive and overcome certain environments, times, circumstances, (…).
It is acknowledged that these changes manifest themselves in the form of mutations, alterations, and physical selections in their structure.
