Fish

The image assumes itself as a visual representation of human evolution, but adopts a more spiritual character for the action in question.

Recognizing that the Greek word for fish – ἰχθύς (ichthus) – was used by the Christian religion as an acronym for “Iesu Christos Theou Uios Soter” (Jesus Christ, Son of God, Savior), this species is also used as a metaphor that describes the process by which human beings are reborn and purified (through the ritual of baptism).

“Cosmic Fisherman” evokes the various advances in the history of civilization, and illustrates the human desire to transcend to a higher stage – a feeling analogous to a notion of conquest – destined for the intellectual and spiritual evolution, based on the  subject’s need to understand, not only his own functioning, but also that of the world in which he is inserted.

To achieve this, tools and concepts, symbols and mechanisms, more familiar vocabularies and practices are used to systematize, decompose and understand everything that surrounds a human being.
